At a properly called and duly
constituted meeting of the Kirk Session of Arrochar Parish Church
held in Arrochar Parish Church on Wednesday 25th. September, 2002
It was unanimously agreed
1. that Arrochar
Parish Church enthusiastically agrees to become part of a Parish
Grouping with the congregations of Kilmaronock-Gartocharn, Alexandria
and Luss for a pilot period initially of five years, noting that this
Parish Grouping will be served by the Ministers of Alexandria and
Arrochar with Luss and by a part-time member of staff who may be a minister.
2. that the Kirk
Session agrees the change of status which a Parish Grouping entails.
3. that the Kirk
Session rejects any proposal to enlarge the Parish Grouping to
include the other congregations within the Vale of Leven; noting that
the communities served by the two groupings are intrinsically
diverse, that the mission opportunities are substantially different
and that the congregations of Luss and Arrochar look to Helensburgh
rather than the Vale for educational facilities and for local
government services.
4. that the Kirk
Session enthusiastically embraces the opportunities for mission and
for Christian service brought about by the introduction of the New
National Park.
