The Kirk Session of Arrochar
Parish Church met on Thursday 30th. May at 6 p.m. to consider the
petition which it was proposed to submit to Presbytery along with the
Kirk Sessions of Kilmaronock-Gartocharn, Alexandria and Luss. The
words of this petition can be seen on the reports page of this
web-site as can the discussion paper on which this petition has been based.
Every member of the Kirk session
was present except for Stella who is in hospital (and getting on well
- we expect her home tomorrow).
Without exception, every member of
the Kirk session was enthusiastic about this petition and the
proposal it contained. We realise that it is up to us to help provide
ministerial cover for Kilmaronock-Gartocharn; we realise that it is
inevitable that there will be a reduction in ministerial staffing but
more than all of this we are enthusiastic about working together as
part of a team covering the area of the National Park within the area
of Dumbarton Presbytery. We see huge opportunities of working
together both to serve those who live in our communities and in
reaching out to those who come here to visit. We believe that this is
a glorious opportunity for us as a congregation and hope that the
Presbytery will allow this proposal to go ahead as soon as is possible.
At seven o'clock the meeting ended
with the Session Clerk signing the petition on behalf of the Kirk
Session at which point we brought the meeting to a formal close in prayer. |
