Arrochar Parish Church Kirk Session Report |
Apart from Retta and Tom, everyone was present at this meeting and for the first time 'everyone' included Neil our newest elder who was warmly welcomed. We discussed our work with children and, in particular, our Sunday School. After a wide-ranging discussion we decided to adopt a new syllabus and appoint a rota of teachers (Margaret, Margaret, Beth and Jimmy) with a matching rota of assistants (Jamie, Hettie, Karen and Neil) to take week about in leading the Sunday School. We agreed to get evryone through Child Protection training as soon as possible and to investigate the possibility of having a counrse run in Arrochar. In response to information from the Presbytery we spent some time talking about the future of our Church and noted that the Presbytery Planning Committee would be coming to visit us quite soon. We are looking forward to that visit especially as now we have reached the end of our five-year period of Church life with the Church restored, the congregation re-established and a full complement of elders, board members and officebearers. The minister said that our target for the next five years had to include devolving some of the jobs currently on Eric's shoulders to other people. As a start of this process it was agreed to appoint Margaret Kelly as World Church Representative and Hettie as Partner Plan Representative. After a discussion about the Church's magazine 'Life and Work', we ended the meeting with the Benediction. |
