Arrochar Parish Church

About this Web Site

Welcome!

This Web Site has two purposes:

It exists for the benefit of members of Arrochar Parish Church and of those who live within the Parish entrusted to our care. It is one way in which we keep in touch with each other and one way in which we try to ensure that everyone knows what is going on within the Church community. It also acts as a reservoir of information about our Church so that our story will not get lost as time goes by. Ours is a wonderful story and we joy to recall it and all that God is enabling us to do in this beautiful part of God's world.

It also exists to enable others from all of the country and all over the world to have a window into the life of our small congregation. We hope that folk who stumble across our web site will pause and enjoy it and will then make contact with us and share something of their story with us.

Our site is divided between pages which are almost totally text and those which contain many photographs. Those which contain photographs have been adjusted to provide thumbnail photographs which enable you to choose which photograph you would like to click on and enlarge. This means that it is easier to see our pictures quickly without long loading times.

Many of our pages have a musical accompaniment. If you find this to be too loud, please adjust your speaker volume (normally by clicking the speaker icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.)

Now a word about our pages:

  • Home Page    This is where you begin and introduces us to you. There are no pictures on this page because we want you to get started on our site as quickly as possible.

  • About this Web Site Page    This is where you are now. This provides a bit of information about the aims of our site and what's on the different pages. A text only page.

  • Pews Paper Page    Every Sunday our Pews Paper is issued at Morning Worship. It is carried here on the Web Site in case anyone missed Church. A text only page.

  • Talk of the Village    This is a gossip page - but in the best possible sense. Here you will learn what has been happening in the Church and what people think about it. A text only page.

  • Newsflash Page    Up to the minute information about the Church. As soon as we know then our web site is updated. A text only page.

  • Reports Page    Here you will learn what has been being discussed by the committees and groups within the Church. After every meeting a report is issued by the Kirk Session and by the Congregational Board but you will find other reports here as well. A text only page.

  • Sunday Service Page    The Order of Service for any particular Sunday is usually published the day before to enable folk to look up the Bible readings, have a look at the hymns or just know what is going to happen. A text only page.

  • The Story So Far Page     Ours is a new Church which has been resurrected from a dwindling congregation in a condemned Church building. Now great things are happening and this page tells something of that story. A text only page.

  • History Page    This page reprints something of the story of Arrochar Church from its beginning over three hundred years ago until modern times. A text only page.

  • Who's Who Page    This page introduces you to some of the members of our Church community. One day it would be good to imagine that we might all be on this page! A text and photograph page.

  • Photos Page    This page contains photographs of our Church and of our Church Community. A text and photograph page.

  • Our Church Windows Page    This page contains photographs of our newly refurbished stained-glass windows. A text and photograph page.

  • Exhibition Page    This page contains pictures from a Church Exhibition on the rebuilding and refurbishment of our Church building. A text and photograph page.

  • Weddings Page    Our Church is among the most beautiful in Scotland for a wedding, as these pictures illustrate. A text and photograph page.

  • Contact Us Page    Please do contact us - we would love to hear from you.

  • Getting Married in Arrochar Page   This page explains what it means to be married in Arrochar Parish Church. The details of the service are explained as well as many questions answered. If you would like to be married in our beautiful Church then this is the page for you.

  • Wedding Application Form  Apply on-line to start the process of getting married in Arrochar.

  • Friends of Arrochar Parish Church Page   This page tells of the work of the 'Friends.' If you would like to join, there is an on-line application form included on this page.

  • Celebrate   We will need to take this page away soon! It is really an advertisement for special mugs which were made to celebrate the completion of the restoration projects at both Arrochar and Luss. The projects have been completed and the mugs have all been sold - but the page remains as a memory!

  • Friends from Fargo Page  This page tells the story of a trip made by twenty six members of our sister Presbyterian Church in Fargo, North Dakota to visit us. It reminds us that we are part of something much larger than even a national Church. We belong to a world-wide family.

  • Luss Parish Church  This button links us to our sister congregation by the lochside and allows you to read about all that is hapening there.

Thank you for visiting our site
